STEP 7 - GIVE BACK
A closed fist cannot receive anything. No, your hands need to be open to
receive. By opening your hands to others, you’ll not only bless others by
much more enjoyable than receiving. Have you ever selflessly given
something to somebody in need that they truly did not expect receiving?
Try it, I dare you. This rule is simple, yet few understand it: “whatever it is
you seek, you have to give it first before you’ll receive it”. Let me explain
in simple terms. If you want someone to greet you, what do you have to
do? Greet that person first. If you greet somebody, chances are they’ll
greet you back. Another example: If you want your colleagues to be
friendly with you, should you be grumpy and miserable? No, of course
not. You should be friendly with them first. Now the same principal goes
for everything in life. Many religions call this phenomenon many different
things, but it comes down to the same thing:
Do onto others as you would want them to do onto you
What you give is what you get
Karma
Call it whatever you want, it still is true. This is the one thing wealthy and
successful people know and practice. The more you give, the more you
get. A poor person’s mentality is usually the opposite. They argue “first I’
ll have to pay this, then that and if there is anything left over, I’ll give some
to my church or charity. But most of the time there will not be anything
left over after everything is paid. The money will find work.
As the end of the month approaches, money gets tighter and before you
know it, you spent it all on “necessities”. Things like new tennis shoes or
the latest cell phone. Then one day you really need money for an
emergency, but you spent it all. What are the chances of you giving money
to a charity the following month? I bet slim to none.
Now let’s take a look at wealthy, successful people again. Warren Buffet
(currently the richest man in the world) already announced that he allocated
a huge portion of his personal wealth to charity. Something like 30 billion
or so (give or take) of his current wealth. Just remember he doesn’t have
to do it. He could just as well blow most of it on materialistic stuff and give
whatever is left to his children. Moral of the story is, he is opening his
hands to give, instead of splurging it all on cars, yachts, airplanes, and
whatever else he is able to.
