Step 2 - Shape Your Attitude
Network
Surrounding yourself with people with a similar mindset is a must.
Achieving any worthy goal is difficult, whether it be competing in an iron
man or bringing a business idea to life.  If you only have friends who tell
you how stupid your ideas are, and that your goals will never realize, maybe
it’s time to find other friends.  If all you hear is “you can’t”, at some point
you’ll believe it.  So stop hanging out with those people and find yourself a
“you can” friend.  Someone who will introduce you to his/her other like
minded friends.  People who also want to step-up and excel.  Even chimps
have figured this one out.  You can achieve more when working with a
partner or in a group, than alone.  We all have different beliefs and values.
It is this difference that makes the difference, so to speak.  Your partner
will see the same thing that you see, but from a different angle.  But more
than that, when you network, you meet people who might help you or do
business with you down the line.  When you hang out with people who also
strive towards a better life, that positive attitude will rub off on you.  These
are the people you want to bounce ideas around with.
So to recap.  If you don’t feel successful yet, fake it.  When you walk
somewhere, step up the pace.  When you stand, stand up straight.  Put a
smile on your face, while you face the world.  Embrace life, for it is short.
Use these beliefs and character traits to your advantage.  Do what the pros
do.  Be confident and positive.

Here are some choices for you to play with when molding your attitude:
Do you drive life, or does it drive you?  Do you run towards life, or do you
run away from it?  In other words do you play a proactive role, or a
reactive role in your life?  It is extremely important to know your stance,
for if your are somebody who is reactive by nature, you might need to
reevaluate your goals and how to achieve them.  Waiting to win the lottery
is not a winning strategy.  Pretty much everything worthwhile will require
proactive action.  Whether it is to find your one true love or to have a hit
single on the radio.  You’ll need to be proactive.  So fix your attitude and go
grab what is yours.

Worksheet 2 is about character traits.  The goal is to get you thinking about
your own personality and what you might need to work on to be successful
at what you do.  Don’t be lazy and skip over it, because you’ll miss the
whole point.  Successful people are successful because of their
personalities.  Let me explain.  You could potentially be the best golfer (for
example) in the world.  Have all the talent, skill, knowledge, etc., but if you’
re too lazy to get your behind off the couch, then you don’t stand a chance
to even make it on the local circuit.  The same goes for being unfocused,
undisciplined, etc.  So stop procrastinating and do it.
